Shattered Mind

Putting our looks and manners aside,
What do you see when you look inside?
Staring into your minds eye, is there only you?
Or is there someone else there, standing, staring too?
Another person may dwell deep inside
Silent and watchful as the ocean's tide.
You have always sensed this, (in me, you can confide)
A silent screaming in the night, that shatter's all our pride.

Did you think that you're the only one,
Panting and screaming, having all the fun?
A devil's pitchfork in one ear, an angel in the other,
The battle rages day and night, who will be the victor?
Did that wall just move, is that lamp askew?
The only exits are all too few!
A shadow flickers past the window, tension's all-time high,
If you feel the need to scream out, I'll gladly help you cry.
Heed this warning for my time is near,
When the time arrives try to hide your fear.
I hear the beast approaching - Quick - hide beneath your beds!
I hate it when Nurse Dread arrives to say it's time for meds.
