It was a damnable poisoned Saracen blade that left me bleeding and broken, barely able to drag myself from the field of battle and a humiliating defeat. I prayed to my omniscient god, whom I had sworn my devotion and he answered not. At the point of death, the sweet whisper of relief was breathed in my ear. Would I accept immortality at the cost of my own soul? The pain was overwhelming and where was my god of deliverance? He had turned his back on me and my bretheren that dark day and I owe him not my fealty. I have been many things since I was brought across - a sorcerer, scholar, mage,wanderer,assassin, bard and, of course, warrior. The great Dark Lord is the one I serve....for now. This character is the central figure to a novella I wrote entitled "The Inferno Assignment", in which he is finally granted redemption. His essence lies dormant through several lifetimes, only awakened when his unique skills and knowledge are required. In this story, the soul essence of the Ascended Master known as The Christed One is kidnapped into the Lower Realms and, in his present incarnation as Nevarro, is asked by the God and Goddess to take on an assignment that could well mean an eternity of brutal torture and captivity.
